GENERAL
INFO
CHEM100-Online & CHEM100L-Online are NOT SELF-PACED
courses. There are set due dates for assignments and exams.
CO-REQUISITE STRICTLY ENFORCED:
MUST be enrolled in CHEM100L (laboratory) at ANY SDCCD
campus (Miramar, Mesa or City). However, this lecture coordinates best with
Miramar labs, especially the online lab. If you are not co-enrolled in lab and
have not passed the lab in a previous semester, you must obtain a waiver from
Admissions and have it signed by the department chair.
Otherwise, as per department policy, you
will be dropped and preference given to waitlisted students who are enrolled
in the lab.
ALL STUDENTS PRESENTLY REGISTERED MUST ATTEND ORIENTATION or
else will be dropped from the course.
Arrange
your work and personal schedules NOW to accommodate this date and time. NO EXCEPTIONS!
THOSE WISHING TO ADD MUST ALSO ATTEND!
First, put yourself on the Waiting List via Reg-e or ClassTalk. Add codes may
be distributed depending on the attendance of registered students. NO GUARANTEES
- but you MUST be present at orientation in order to add. NO EXCEPTIONS!

CHARACTERISTICS OF SUCCESSFUL DISTANCE LEARNERS from The Distance Learner's Guide, Western Cooperative, George P. Connick, ed., Prentice Hall, 1999.
"Those who succeed as distance learners
-- are highly motivated
-- are independent
-- are active learners
-- have good organizational and time management skills
-- have the discipline to study without external reminders
-- can adapt to new learning environments
..."The fact is that you are likely to find that distance learning is more, not
less, demanding than learning through traditional means."
ALSO, you need to be adept at reading and following WRITTEN instructions.
